Sailing VesselsMotor Sailing shape: Cone with point down (arrow points down to the propeller) Hovercraft and SubmarinesLights: flashing yellow (warning: things are not what they seem. One ship flies above the water, the other sinks beneath it. The slower submarine has the slower flash). TowingVessel towing with length greater than 200m shape: diamond (big tow shows expensive shape). Fishing VesselsTrawler lights: green over white (green over white, fishing tonight.) Trawlers drag net over bottom so green equals seaweed or seabed. Trawlers fish on the move so green for go. Other fishing vessel lights: red over white (red over white, fishing tonight.) Generally fish when stopped so red for stop. Not Under CommandLights: two red (too dangerous to command. Red over red, captain's dead: that is, no commander). Restricted in ManoeuvrabilityLights: Red white red (Red When Restricted). Pilot BoatLights: White above red (white over red, pilot's ahead). White hat over red face. Colours also match pilot flag. |
